The 18th Annual California Charter Schools Conference
CCSA: California Charter Schools Association

The Alliance of Public Charter School Attorneys (APCSA) Spring Legal Seminar
March 7th and 8th at the 18th Annual CA Charter Schools Conference

The Alliance of Public Charter School Attorneys (APCSA), in partnership with the California Charter School Association's 18th Annual Conference, is very pleased to invite you to our next Spring Legal Seminar on March 7th and 8th in gorgeous San Diego! It's time to get some sun and talk charter schools with charter school lawyers from around the country. (Sunscreen will be provided.)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The event is for lawyers representing charter schools in courthouses, statehouses and in negotiation processes. The two-day seminar will focus on the impact of federal civil rights laws on charter schools, including a detailed discussion about charter school compliance and predictions on the next-wave of charter school litigation.

We will tackle the ever-salient topic of how federal civil rights laws impact charter schools, honing our focus on four main issues:

  • Enrollment preferences in single-sex academies, religiously-affiliated schools, and cultural immersion schools;
  • Desegregation mandates from federal courts and the US DoE's Office of Civil Rights;
  • Serving English Language Learners in compliance with NLRB and OCR consent decrees; and,
  • Serving Special Education students through "shared services" models in compliance with IDEA and OCR consent decrees.

We are convening experts from across the country to lead these discussions; with the heightened scrutiny heaped upon charter schools and accusations that charter schools don't serve all students, we expect a robust and nuanced dialogue. You won't be disappointed.

Space is limited, so please don't delay. The sooner you RSVP, the better!
